It's been 7 days!

Saturday night, we decided to go out to dinner at our local Thai restaurant, our favourite eats, and even though there was rice and noodles abound on the menu, we weren't even tempted. How freakin' awesome is that!

I uploaded our meals to the Clean Eating 2012 album, obviously not 100% clean, as Mister's had coconut milk in his dish, but so damn proud of ourselves.

I know that I'm in the zone, on a roll, motivated and jacked up to the max to get rid of this damn extra fat that I stupidly gained over the last 6 months, simply by ignoring my body's needs.

It ain't rocket science peeps!

Finally, a new pyramid!

The fancy nutrition dept at Harvard have come up with a new food pyramid as well as a food plate (a heck of a lot easier on the eye).

It's not perfect, but it's waaay better than the old pyramid the western civilization have been using for donkeys years. Why we based our beliefs on what's healthy and not healthy on a food pyramid made in the US I do not know ... but anyway, here they are!

It's great that the new pyramid has daily exercise and weight control as the foundation. Brilliant work fancy Harvard nutrition folks! (would be interesting to see what they looked like ...)

Those who know me, and my way of clean eating, the whole grains portion would be a lot smaller, as well as fruits. Love the fact that water is recommended with every meal, NOT dairy (we honestly don't need milk everyday, no matter what the tv has been telling us all these years). I'd also add healthy fats, naturally occurring, e.g. avocado, salmon, nuts.

and just for fun, here's the original

6 - 11 servings of bread, cereal, rice and pasta! holy moly I would be an oversized elephant by now if that's what I ate every day!

Thanks to my beautiful friend, Ness (creator of Venus Network) who actually read the article in the first place. I saw it pop up on Facebook this morning, and decided to have a nosey! Gotta love social media! Ok, off to make me an Eggcel smoothie ... will I turn to my lazy option? 1 cup Eggcel, 1 tbsp milkshake flavouring ... yep, I think so!

Oh, and happy to report I'm down 900g since I started on the 1st -- I'm happy as a mofo!

who said blogging was easy?

holy heck! I set this blog up in 2010, and haven't posted since... sooo bad!!

Happy New Year!! 2012 already! what the !? A great start to the year, with both Mr & Mrs Eggcel hitting the clean eating track running. Seriously ... it's not a good look with the creator of Eggcel (that's me) put on a hefty 10kg in 2011. Yep, 10kg. And it was easy. Missing breakfast, didn't have my daily Eggcel (shocking I know), no exercise whatsoever and just putting myself last before everything and everyone else.

Looked in the mirror a few days ago and thought enough is enough. I freakin' look pregnant. Haven't been this heavy ever -- except when I was preggy with lil miss Eggcel. So yeah, it's time to get real.

Started a visual record of our clean eating on our personal Facebook page. It's a public album, so you should see it ok. It's more for keeping myself accountable, as well as helping you out to keep you inspired on your own clean eating journey. It's quite a big thing for me to show you that I am not a ripped, lean mean machine. It's not really my goal to be that either, I just want to get my muscles back!

Have also created some new Team Eggcel tees, which you can buy here - and you can also win a design of your choice, really easy compeition. Check it out on our Eggcel Facebook page

you can win one of these! Entries close Wed 4th Jan, midnight

I was going to start blogging on a personal page, but realised, Eggcel is personal. I created it out of the need to be able to have protein that didn't come from a cow. It really was that simple. I don't eat red meat and my body doesn't handle milk very well, so whey protein was out. I'm not convinced on soy protein, and egg whites are just so damn easy to consume. We've pasteurised it so it's safe to drink, as blending up with your favourite smoothie ingredients is the best way to have it. So, some of my posts may seem like rambling. I think it's better that way. For me anyway! If I have to think too much about what I'm writing, I will just put it off. And this year is the year of action!

So do keep checking back, my intention is to regularly blog. I promise!
