Finally, a new pyramid!

The fancy nutrition dept at Harvard have come up with a new food pyramid as well as a food plate (a heck of a lot easier on the eye).

It's not perfect, but it's waaay better than the old pyramid the western civilization have been using for donkeys years. Why we based our beliefs on what's healthy and not healthy on a food pyramid made in the US I do not know ... but anyway, here they are!

It's great that the new pyramid has daily exercise and weight control as the foundation. Brilliant work fancy Harvard nutrition folks! (would be interesting to see what they looked like ...)

Those who know me, and my way of clean eating, the whole grains portion would be a lot smaller, as well as fruits. Love the fact that water is recommended with every meal, NOT dairy (we honestly don't need milk everyday, no matter what the tv has been telling us all these years). I'd also add healthy fats, naturally occurring, e.g. avocado, salmon, nuts.

and just for fun, here's the original

6 - 11 servings of bread, cereal, rice and pasta! holy moly I would be an oversized elephant by now if that's what I ate every day!

Thanks to my beautiful friend, Ness (creator of Venus Network) who actually read the article in the first place. I saw it pop up on Facebook this morning, and decided to have a nosey! Gotta love social media! Ok, off to make me an Eggcel smoothie ... will I turn to my lazy option? 1 cup Eggcel, 1 tbsp milkshake flavouring ... yep, I think so!

Oh, and happy to report I'm down 900g since I started on the 1st -- I'm happy as a mofo!
